Mardi Gras Celebration in Woodstock - THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!


Downtown Woodstock will be kicking off March in style with Mardi Gras On Main, Friday, March 6th 5pm-10pm. This FREE event will bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to Downtown Woodstock. The event will include street musicians, artists, and other Mardi Gras themed activities. Participating merchants will have Mardi Gras themed activities or products at their stores/restaurants.

We will be hanging out over at Roomscapes Gallery and Heartworks Studio. In front on their gallery, we can be found on the sidewalk at the Springfield Photography table with goodies, and best of all, a raffle for a FREE sitting and 16x20. we should be pretty easy to spot as we will have one of our lights with umbrellas overhead.

Along with the festivities, the King and Queen of the event will be crowned at 9pm in the gazebo in the Woodstock City Park. A foot parade of the candidates will begin the journey to the gazebo from Roomscapes Gallery & Heartworks Studio and make its way through downtown on the journey to the park. The foot parade will start around 9pm.

Here is a brief listing what some of the downtown Merchants will be doing for the event:

Roomscapes Gallery & Heartworks Studio will be hosting the one man show of Byron Tracy Snyder, a local Woodstock resident oil painter. The Gallery will feature a live musical performance by Woodstock resident Blaine Steven Luck. The Gallery will also host Springfield Photography which will be conducting a raffle drawing. The Mardi Gras foot parade will start from the Gallery as well.

The Right Wing Tavern will have musician John Gardner performing at 9pm. In addition the Tavern will be featuring Cajun food specials including crawfish, gumbo and low country boil. The Tavern will also have king’s cake, hurricanes and Abita beers.

Interior Illusions will be having a giant going out of business sale and refreshments.

House & Garden Boutique will have a food tasting evening. Merrily Gardens and Cuisine on the Run will be on hand with samples of their products. Samples of the Boutique’s brownie and scone mixes will be available as well. A special sale will also be held in honor of Mardi Gras on Main! House & Garden Boutique invites everyone to come join them for a fun evening & a glass of wine.

Seven Arrows will be passing out Mardi Gras beads and will have some refreshments.

Betsy’s on Main will be having a store closing sale.

Cookies by Design will be selling festive Mardi Gras cookies on a stick during the event. Large decorated cookies are $5 and small decorated cookies will be $2-$3. Also, 20% off any cookie bouquet ordered that night!

Pennybag Emporium will be serving New Orleans style Jambalaya and fresh brewed sweet iced tea for refreshments. Pennybag will have some games with door prizes!

Foxtale Book Shoppe will be hosting a Great Gatsby party. This party is being held in conjunction with the Big Read program to encourage everyone to read The Great Gatsby. Foxtale invites anyone attending the party to dress up as a flappers or as Gatsby himself.
Linden will be having gumbo by GiGi Fine Food. They will also have king cake and feature other Mardi Gras themed activities.

Main Street Nail Studio will be having refreshments and Mardi Gras related activities.

LKT Sports Art will be having a store wide sale.

Currant will be having a Mardi Gras themed activities.

The Woodstock Visitors Center at Dean’s Store will be hosting game night. Play your favorite board or card game in the historic setting of Dean’s Store.

As you can see there is fun to be had in Downtown Woodstock on Friday night. Please come by, visit our table, enter the raffle and grab some beads to begin your evening. Then visit our neighbors downtown to see all of the WONDERFUL things Woodstock has to offer!
