Mardi Gras Celebration in Woodstock - THIS FRIDAY NIGHT!

Downtown Woodstock will be kicking off March in style with Mardi Gras On Main, Friday, March 6th 5pm-10pm. This FREE event will bring the spirit of Mardi Gras to Downtown Woodstock. The event will include street musicians, artists, and other Mardi Gras themed activities. Participating merchants will have Mardi Gras themed activities or products at their stores/restaurants.

We will be hanging out over at Roomscapes Gallery and Heartworks Studio. In front on their gallery, we can be found on the sidewalk at the Springfield Photography table with goodies, and best of all, a raffle for a FREE sitting and 16x20. we should be pretty easy to spot as we will have one of our lights with umbrellas overhead.

Along with the festivities, the King and Queen of the event will be crowned at 9pm in the gazebo in the Woodstock City Park. A foot parade of the candidates will begin the journey to the gazebo from Roomscapes Gallery & Heartworks Studio and make its way through downtown on the journey to the park. The foot parade will start around 9pm.

Here is a brief listing what some of the downtown Merchants will be doing for the event:

Roomscapes Gallery & Heartworks Studio will be hosting the one man show of Byron Tracy Snyder, a local Woodstock resident oil painter. The Gallery will feature a live musical performance by Woodstock resident Blaine Steven Luck. The Gallery will also host Springfield Photography which will be conducting a raffle drawing. The Mardi Gras foot parade will start from the Gallery as well.

The Right Wing Tavern will have musician John Gardner performing at 9pm. In addition the Tavern will be featuring Cajun food specials including crawfish, gumbo and low country boil. The Tavern will also have king’s cake, hurricanes and Abita beers.

Interior Illusions will be having a giant going out of business sale and refreshments.

House & Garden Boutique will have a food tasting evening. Merrily Gardens and Cuisine on the Run will be on hand with samples of their products. Samples of the Boutique’s brownie and scone mixes will be available as well. A special sale will also be held in honor of Mardi Gras on Main! House & Garden Boutique invites everyone to come join them for a fun evening & a glass of wine.

Seven Arrows will be passing out Mardi Gras beads and will have some refreshments.

Betsy’s on Main will be having a store closing sale.

Cookies by Design will be selling festive Mardi Gras cookies on a stick during the event. Large decorated cookies are $5 and small decorated cookies will be $2-$3. Also, 20% off any cookie bouquet ordered that night!

Pennybag Emporium will be serving New Orleans style Jambalaya and fresh brewed sweet iced tea for refreshments. Pennybag will have some games with door prizes!

Foxtale Book Shoppe will be hosting a Great Gatsby party. This party is being held in conjunction with the Big Read program to encourage everyone to read The Great Gatsby. Foxtale invites anyone attending the party to dress up as a flappers or as Gatsby himself.

Where the Heck is Matt?

I don't know why really but I had to post this. I had seen it awhile back but this is a new version. No message, just fun. Although, it really makes me get a little misty eyed when I think about how we are all so similar (and goofy!) all over the world.

Winners and Maps of Awesome!

Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated this Christmas season last weekend with us! We had a blast. The parade was pretty awesome, the tree was huge and you guys were fun to hang out with! Also, a big thanks to everyone who entered to win a free portrait sitting and 16x20 print. The winner we drew is... Shelley Holland! Congratulations Shelley!

In the spirit of giving, we have joined up with Giving is Awesome. Read on...

You know someone. You know someone who's experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can't afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family's spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. We guarantee it.

We want to know who they are, and we want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography session and goodies -- $300 worth, to be exact. Whether it's images for Grandma, a huge wall portrait or a slideshow to watch over and over, it's in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session as well. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve -- get nominating!

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside somewhere relatively close to Woodstock, Georgia. Tell us who you know, what they're experiencing, and why they deserve our artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail us the full story: spsite@springfieldphotography.com. Please note that this e-mail address is for this process only. For other e-mail inquires, visit our website!

We can't wait to read all of your entries! Open your heart to someone this holiday season -- and thanks for giving us the opportunity to open ours.

With love,
Springfield Photography

Christmas Jubilee This Weekend!

This weekend will be full of winter festivities! Here is a look at what is going on at Springfield Photography and in the city...

Friday Night - Friday Night Live "Christmas on Main"

December 5th will mark the next installment of the wildly popular Woodstock Friday Night Live series. The Downtown Merchants aim to make this a Christmas celebration that you will never forget. Participating merchants will be having their Christmas open houses for the event. This is a perfect chance to Christmas shop in Olde Towne Woodstock as many stores will be having special sales during the event.

The fun will start at 5pm and will go to 9pm. Around town, there will be live music, carolers, tasty treats, arts and crafts, along with special visits from elves, Mrs. Claus and the jolly man in red himself! I have heard even the Grinch will be lurking around somewhere! You can also stop at one of the restaurants for a yummy dinner. There is plenty of public parking available (look for signs) and a courtesy shuttle will be running for the event.

Saturday - Woodstock Christmas Jubilee

Most of the events start at 4pm when the annual holiday parade begins. Starting at Hwy 92, it travels down Main Street spreading an infectious holiday spirit. I would advise you to get your place to watch early so that the kids have a great view. If you can make it to our studio before the parade, we have a 2.5 foot ledge at the end of our parking lo next to the road, that is has a great view. Don't forget, Santa is expected to make a special trip from the North Pole just for the parade!

Right after the parade, Santa will head to the City Park to visit with the little ones about their wish lists. Also, the Mayor will announce the parade float winners, the citizen of the year and the tree will be lit for the holiday season!

The most important thing is happening here at our studio (though I may be a little biased)! We will be open from noon-until the festivities end with holiday music, snacks and a very special event! You can sign up for a FREE portrait session and 16x20 print from that session. Just swing by for a treat and to get your name on the list!

Also the holidays are the best time to consider family portraits while everyone is in town. If you book a December session with us this Saturday, you will receive a FREE mounted 11x14 from that session. If you book a December session with us the following week, you will receive a FREE set of 16 wallets from that session perfect to include in your holiday cards.

So don't miss out on all of the fun and specials! Stop by our studio on Saturday from noon-7pm.

Happy Turkey Day!

I know, I know. I'm technically a day early, but I won't be in the office tomorrow. I will be stuffing myself with yummy food from 3 different places. (Extended families rock!)

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving and a nice day off! If you are a past client or are a subscriber to our newsletter, you will be receiving an e-mail early next week about some wonderful Christmas happenings here in town scheduled for next weekend. You can subscribe on our website www.springfieldphotography.com. Watch for a special too good to pass up!
